The men’s volleyball team kicking off for the 2025 spring season! While previously including all of the high schools within the district, they have now been split due to the uptick in popularity. Poudre is now being grouped with Rocky, and Fort Collins to form the PSD Stars. The increasing popularity of boys volleyball as a whole has been a theme across the country. According to data from NFHS, participation between the 2021-22 season and the 2022-23 season participation has increased 16.24%.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jaxen White who has played on the team for the past three years as a middle. He enjoys it because of, “the community and its a lot of fun!” White was notable hopeful quoting that, "we are looking solid,” as they progress through the season. Well-liked by players is Toby Rens, the varsity coach who previously coached at the collegiate level. Nine players on the varsity squad fill out the team.

There are a myriad of reasons to join the upcoming movement of men’s volleyball. The non-contact sport makes it easy to get into. It's an easy way to improve your coordination and stability. The spring season allows those to play both volleyball and any fall or winter sports; Jaxen White also plays basketball during the winter season as it progresses nicely into the Volleyball season. Multiple casual and summer leagues are available for those looking for a non-competitive style. This will be a good entry allowing for anyone to show up, have fun, and try out the sport for a little bit. The incredibly laid back atmosphere is very welcoming to all. The PSD Stars team allows those to be serious if they want to be on the varsity team or to sit back and enjoy with the JV and C teams. Support the team on 3/29 at 10:00AM for their next home game!
