Israel intensifies strikes across Gaza on Palm Sunday and hits a hospital in the north; Written by Wafaa Shurafa and Samy Magdy; Updated 6:10 PM MDT, April 13, 2025; Associated Press. Israel was striking Gaza on Sunday and struck a hospital, killing 21 people, including children. As of April 13, this was the latest attack on the last major hospital in northern Gaza. The hospital director said that there has been severe damage to the emergency rooms, pharmacy, and the surrounding buildings. This would affect over one hundred patients and staff members. One of the patients died while trying to evacuate after Israel's warning because she wasn’t able to get urgent care.

Iran and US envoys hold 1st negotiation over Tehran’s nuclear program, and talk face-to-face; written by Jon Gambrell; Updated 7:11 PM MDT, April 12, 2025; Associated Press. There will be continued meetings between the United States and Iran about their rapidly expanding nuclear program. This is the first time that these two nations have done this since the Obama administration. The White House said that these conversations were very positive and constructive. They also said that it was a step towards achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.

Israel cuts off Gaza’s southern city of Rafah and vows to ‘vigorously’ expand in the territory; written by Sam Mednick and Samy Magdy; Updated 2:59 PM MDT, April 12, 2025; Associated Press. On Sunday Israel announced that they had finished building a security corridor cutting of Gaza's southern city of Rafah from the rest of the country saying that they also would expand “vigorously” into most of the coastal cities. Israel is pressuring Gaza into releasing the 59 remaining hostages and accepting the new proposed ceasefire terms. The Israel country has also put a month long blockade for food fuel and humanitarian aid. This has left roughly 2 million people facing acute shortages. Israel claimed that there had been enough food entering the country during the 2 month ceasefire.

Divers search for parts after NYC helicopter crash kills a family of five and the pilot, a Navy vet; written by Michael R. Sisak, Dave Collins, and Ted Shaffrey; Updated 7:15 PM MDT, April 11, 2025; Associated Press. On April 11, divers were using sonar to search for key parts on the sightseeing helicopter that crashed into the Hudson river after falling apart midair. This crash killed a family of five and the navy veteran that was piloting the helicopter. Parts that are still missing as of April 11 include the main and rear rotors, main transmission, roof structure, and the tail structure.

Trump’s commerce secretary says new electronics tariff exemptions are temporary, chip tariffs coming; written by Mae Anderson, and Matt O’Brien; updated 4:31 PM MDT, April 13, 2025; Associated Press. On April 11, there was an announcement that the tariff exemptions for electronics would be temporary until they could work out a new approach to tariff the semi-conductor industry. This tariff exemption was put in place to try keeping the prices of electronics not made in the U.S down.
